Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.
What are your favorite podcasts – both bookish and non-bookish podcasts.
Well, I don’t really have any as I am not really into podcast. I just can’t listen to people talk about things. Unless they are actually telling me a story like (audiobooks), or those old radio shows (Shadow, Superman, etc), then I just can’t get into it. 🙁
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
When the mysterious Dr. Fell moves into the abandoned house that had once been the neighborhood kids’ hangout, he immediately builds a playground to win them over. But as the ever-changing play space becomes bigger and more elaborate, the children and their parents fall deeper under the doctor’s spell.
Only Jerry, Nancy, and Gail are immune to the lure of his extravagant wonderland. And they alone notice that when the injuries begin to pile up on the jungle gym, somehow Dr. Fell is able to heal each one with miraculous speed. Now the three children must find a way to uncover the doctor’s secret power without being captivated by his trickery.
I will be starting this one next week. I am do a middle-grade book to break up all my mysteries. 🙂 This one is for review and looks fun.
Sounds like an interesting house that kids could use their imagination on.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
“Weird?” grunted Jonathan Bloom, who needed at least three cups of coffee before he could speak in multiword sentences.
“Your sister is the same sweet young darling she’s always been, Jerry,” answered his mother. “Why do you ask?”
Jerry dropped his gaze and kicked absently at the floor for a moment. “She just seems…I dunno…I was just…” He gave up. How could he tell his parents that he thought Dr. Fell had brainwashed their daughter if they were also under the odious man’s spell?
Hmm, this makes me curious. 🙂
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
If you recommend a book to someone, do you also send that person your review?
No, I normally just recommend a book and tell them why I think they might like it. I don’t send them my review though it is always available on goodreads if they want to look at it.
I’m in love with that first sentence! That sounds amazing! I like the 56 too. I’m curious about all the brainwashing. This sounds like a fun read and a good one to break things up a bit. I’m adding it to my TBR for when I need a break!
Yeah, it sounds good and I have heard that it’s pretty good and creepy for a kids book so I am curious. 🙂
I need to read more middle grade novels. They really are hidden gems. Thanks for sharing this and hope it will be a fun read for you. Looking forward to seeing your review! Here’s my Friday Meets:
Yeah, now and then you can find a real good read from Middle-Grade. 🙂
That’s a great opening and really sets the scene. The dialogue in the 56 excerpt is great — so realistic. I love the premise of this book.
My Friday post features STEALING JASON WILDE.
Yeah, it really has me curious. 🙂
I love the cover. I’d buy it based on that alone.
Here is my Friday 56: https://coffeeandcatsblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/05/the-friday-56-8/
Yeah the cover is really cool! 🙂
I haven’t heard of this one before, but it looks interesting. Enjoy the book once you get to it! 🙂
Yeah, I got lucky to get an email about it or I wouldn’t have known anything about it and it sounds cool. 🙂
Is the 56 supposed to be repetitive or is that a typo? LOL
Sounds fun wither way! Happy weekend!
No that was my unruly computer being stupid. It took me forever this morning to get my post to work and it must have done something weird with that post cause I swear I had fixed it…lol. Technology!
If you are ever up for giving podcast another try the Snap Judgement podcast is a podcast that tells stories and a unique score
It definitely took me awhile to get accustomed to listening to podcasts, but I fell in love with it. So much that I rarely listen to audiobooks even though I love those too. But it is a different type of listening.
Dr. Fell and the Playground of Doom sounds like such a fun read!
I don’t listen to podcasts either, although my husband often does. I wouldn’t even know where to find them if I was interested, to be honest! As it is, I listen to audiobooks only occasionally.
I don’t include my review when I recommend books either.
Have a great week, Stormi!
I’ve not gotten into podcasts either. My mind wanders too much with them. I know people who are crazy for them though.
This one sounds so fun! We used to imagine all kinds of things while playing in an old barn in my neighborhood.
Cute cover and it sounds like a fun read. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
This sounds like a lot of fun and sounds like one my god daughter would enjoy. I want to read it to see if she would like it. Thanks for sharing.
I love listening to old radio shows – of all kinds! Makes me miss having Sirius XM radio…
