A free, 11.9 in the Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series, first appearing in Singh’s September 2013 newsletter, and revolving around two major Changeling groups, the Psy, and humans. The focus is on Sophia Russo and Max Shannon, who both work for councilor Nikita Duncan of the Psy in San Francisco.

If you’re interested, there is a chronological listing of the Psy-Changeling books on my website.

My Take

It’s another sweet background exploration of a couple of characters in the Psy-Changeling series: Sophia Russo was once with the Psy Justice system until she burned out. Max Shannon got an offer he didn’t want to refuse.

Singh uses third person simple subjective point-of-view from Sophia’s perspective, and the story itself is also simple. It sticks strictly to this couple’s interactions and only skims any reference to the series.

It’s character-driven, and if you’ve read (and re-read!) Psy-Changeling, Max’s concern with her tasting and eating a meal would have more depth. As would Sophia’s fascination with how much Max loves her, and how they both express their love.

What action there is revolves around this couple with Morpheus’s actions thrown in for a laugh!

The Story

Both Sophia and Max have high-pressure jobs, so Max’s fantasy of an uninterrupted Sunday morning has a slim chance of succeeding…if only Sophia can shut down her style of communication.

The Characters

Sophia Russo is a former telepathic Justice Psy now married to Max Shannon (Bonds of Justice, 8), former law enforcement. Morpheus is her big black ex-alley cat.

River Shannon is Max’s re-found brother, having been separated for years.

The Rats are…
…allies with the DarkRiver cat pride and led by Teijan.

The Title

The title has hopes for a lazy “Sunday Morning”.
