Sarah and Elvis are on the case. Praise for the Second Chance Cat Mysteries: “A surefire winner!”—Miranda James, New York Times bestselling author
Here is what I thought
This was two novellas from cozy mysteries that involve cats. I mainly got it for Sofie Ryan’s novella as I haven’t read Sofie Kelly’s books yet though they are on my list.
The Cat Burglar by Sofie Kelly (A Magical Cat Mystery #8.5)
Kathleen’s friend Maggie has had some things stolen from her store and she asked Kathleen to find out who done it. She doesn’t want to call the cops because the three suspects are people that she knows, so she hopes that Kathleen can find out who it was without the cops.
This was a decent novella, but because I haven’t read this series it was a lot harder to connect with the characters because I don’t know them. It does have me curious about the series and Kathleen’s two cats who are a bit magical and can go through doors.
This has a cute ending.
No More Pussyfooting Around by Sofie Ryan (A Second Chance Cat Mystery #4.5)
Angie took a fall down the stairs and her nephew seems up to no good. It’s up to Sarah and Rose (part of Charlotte’s Angels) to find out what is going on. Elvis, the cat, helps out in this one, maybe in more ways than one. 🙂
This was a nice little addition to the series I already enjoy.
Recommend if you like
Short reads, mysteries, and cats. 🙂
The Narrator
Cassandra Campell does a great job with the Magical Cats series and I can’t remember if I have listened to her before but her name looks familiar.
Marguerite Gavin of course does a great job with Second Chance Cats. 🙂
Yeah, it really is difficult to connect with characters in novellas where we don’t know them from their series yet. It still sounds like the series has a lot of promise, though, Stormi 🙂
Great review!
Good review, Stormi. It is hard to follow a story or care about the characters if the series isn’t already a favorite. Some authors do it better than others.
