Winter Carnival comes to Serenity, and with it Tj finds her schedule busier than ever. Not only is her ski and snowboard team heavily involved in demonstrations and local competitions, but her ragtag choir is about to debut in their first live performance. To make matters even more complicated, someone has killed Travis Davidson, a town favorite son, world-class snowboarder, and Olympic hopeful. Tj is determined not to get involved in the subsequent investigation until she learns the prime suspect is Chelsea Hanson, high-school boyfriend Hunter Hanson’s sister.
Although there’s no shortage of Sereninites with a grudge against the hometown hero, even Tj has to admit there’s good cause to suspect Chelsea of the murder. Balancing bridesmaid duties, Winter Carnival obligations, show choir duty, and after-hours investigation, Tj sets out to prove Chelsea innocent.

Here is what I thought

Winter is full on in Serenity which means coach TJ Jensen is busy training her skiers for a competition coming up plus the Winter carnival is coming to town. Not only does she have to get her team ready to compete but they also have to do demonstrations at the carnival.

Travis is Serenity’s golden boy, and famous skier, but he is not very popular because he cheated a lot of business out of money when they backed him. It seems once he got famous he dumped them so it was no surprise to find him dead. There are a lot of suspects from teenagers to adults and it’s actually a teenage girl who has been arrested and TJ just knows she couldn’t have done it, so now on top of her full schedule, she has to try and catch a killer.

This was another short cozy that was full of great characters and suspects. I actually had no clue which one might have done in this one like I did the first book.

TJ is a great character, she has taken to caring for her two younger sisters. They are from her mom’s current marriage and so they would be half-sisters. Her father is a great guy too because he treats the two girls as if they were really kin. There are also a lot of great side characters that makes this a well-rounded mystery series. I can’t wait to get to know them all a little more in the next book.

Recommend if you like

Cozy mysteries, short reads, and great characters.

The Narrator

Coleen Marlo was new to me before this series but she is proving to be a great narrator. She has a good voice for cozies.
