Six months after starting their low-carb diet, the Flab Five are feeling motivationally- challenged. A new ice cream shop has come to town, but so has the Witness to Fitness weight loss center, run by the fanatical Veronica Levitt. Maybe Veronica's "take-no-prisoners" approach is just what the group needs. Between dieting, caring for his cranky father, and struggling with his growing affection for Lucy, James has his plate full. But when he and his fellow dieters poke around in an arson case that turns into a murder investigation, the Flab Five discover that they may have bitten off more than they can chew. Here is what I thought
Fit To Die is the second book in the Supper Club Mysteries and just as good as the first one.
James and the others from the Supper Club are struggling with their diet. They are getting tired of eating low carb and have been slipping. While in line at a grocery store after eating things he shouldn’t have having things in his cart he shouldn’t but not as bad as one of his fellow dieters he hears a woman talking to another about all that junk in her cart. She seems a bit rude to James but Lindy buys into it and decides to see if the supper club wants to try out this woman’s new fitness club.
They decide to even though James doesn’t trust Veronica (Ronnie) much and doesn’t like her attitude. He also thinks it’s rather expensive but they all give it a go. Their is a new Ice Cream parlor in town and it has some in an uproar because of the decor and others because of his t-shirt design, but the owner is really friendly. Then his shop gets burned down with Pete one of Willy’s workers still inside. Murder or did ole Pete just have one to many while he was working?
The fitness club starts out okay but the meals they have to eat are very bland and other foods are looking more and more tempting but the exercise program is starting to work on them as they still are losing some weight, but moaning and groaning as they do. James is working with Murphy on a piece for the paper about the club and Lucy is not real happy about it. Lucy can see that Murphy is flirting a bit whether James does or not.
While trying to figure out what happened to Pete another body is found leading the Supper Club to figure out who the culprit is and why.
I thought this was another well done mystery and I am really enjoying this series. The characters are easy to get to know and like and since I am one who struggles with a weight problem they are very relatable to me and very realistic. I sure could feel for James when he was in that exercise class and felt like he was about to die…lol.
If you love cozies check this series out!
