Zoe Chambers, paramedic and deputy coroner in rural Pennsylvania’s tight-knit Vance Township, has been privy to a number of local secrets over the years, some of them her own. But secrets become explosive when a dead body is found in the Township Board President’s abandoned car. As a January blizzard rages, Zoe and Police Chief Pete Adams launch a desperate search for the killer, even if it means uncovering secrets that could not only destroy Zoe and Pete, but also those closest to them.

First novel by this author and I have really enjoyed this mystery and will be checking out the next one in this series.

What I thought of this book.

Zoe Chambers the local paramedic gets involved in trying to solve a murder when it turns out to be her best friends husband who is dead. Logan, Ted’s son, is bound and determined to find out what happened to his father and he involves Zoe in some things. She wants to tell Pete the local chief but it wasn’t exactly legal and she didn’t want to get Logan in trouble.

Zoe is pretty sure she thinks it was Jerry who was the murderer, but things take a few twist and turns. Zoe uncovers some secrets about her friends that are not good and could hurt a lot of people. Pete is having a hard time trying to solve the murder and make sure Zoe stays safe. I really like Zoe and Pete and can’t wait to see what happens next for them in the next book.

Circle of Influence was a really good murder mystery that had some twist and turns that I really hadn’t considered and I must admit I didn’t figure out who it might be until pretty much the end. It has a slow burning romance which I kind of like it that way in my mysteries.

Overall, I enjoyed this one and would recommend it for those who like murder mysteries. Though it’s not a typical cozy I think I would still put it in that category because it wasn’t gory or anything.

The Narrator:

When listening to a new narrator for the first time it takes a while to get use to them and how  they do things. Romy  was not a bad narrator and I liked her voices but her pacing was kind of slow for me but on a faster setting she was great. 🙂 I quickly got use to her being Zoe and enjoyed her narration.
