I’m a mystery and crime novel fan so I wanted to do a challenge that incorporated all the different types of mystery and crime type novels. So when the blog that use to do Cloak and Dagger quit this challenge I decided to take it on and tweak it a bit to make it my own. I also asked Barb from Booker T’s Farm to help cohost this one with me.
Rules:
- You can read any book that is from the mystery/suspense/thriller/crime genres. Any sub-genres are welcome as long as they incorporate one of these genres.
- You don’t need a blog to participate but you do need a place to post your reviews to link up. (blog, goodreads, booklikes, shelfari, etc.)
- Make a goal post and link it back here with your goal for this challenge.
- Books need to be novellas or novels, please no short stories. (At least 100 pages +)
- Crossovers into other challenges is fine.
- Challenge will be from Jan. 1st to Dec. 31st. (Sign up ends April 15th)
There will be a monthly link up so that others can check out your progress and look at your reviews. At the half way mark and the end we will have a giveaway for those participating.
If you tweet about your progress or reviews please use the hashtag #2016CloakDaggerChal so others can see it.
Levels:
1-10 books – Amateur sleuth
11-20 books – Detective
21-30 books – Inspector
31+ books – Special agent
I have been in such a crime novel of all kinds kick lately so I am going to sign up for Special Agent as I have a feeling most of my reads in 2016 will be mysteries of some sort. 🙂 I already have a whole list of Cozies and Detective novels I need to review and some from my TBR pile. So I can’t wait to get started! Hope you will all join in on the fun!
Hmm, this one is tempting me, calling my name. But I’m already doing 8 challenges so I need to think about it.
Have fun with it!
Besides my own challenges that I am cohosting I haven’t signed up for any others…yet…I am sure I will go overboard as always. You can always sign up for a small one and be an amateur sleuth. 😉
Can’t wait to get started. I’m going for detective.
I went for Secret Agent as I am a in a huge mystery mood these days. 🙂
I will be participating in this challenge and since I can’t sign up for it and I don’t really have twitter, this is the best I can do. Sounds fun!
Hi, sorry the link wasn’t working. It’s my first time using it and I didn’t have it to where it could have more than one entry. I went ahead and signed up up on the linky. 🙂 Thanks for signing up!
Hi Stormi! So glad you and Barb are hosting this one. I do love my mysteries. I’ve linked up. If you (or any of your challengers) are challenge-a-holics like me and like older mysteries (pre-1990), I’d like to invite you to join my Vintage Mystery Scavenger Hunt Challenge as well. Any books read for your Cloak & Dagger challenge may double-count for the Scavenger Hunt. I’d love to do both challenges with you.
Bev, glad you signed up. I have seen your Vintage Mystery Challenge and I am seriously thinking of signing up. I want to read more classic mysteries this coming year.:)
This sounds like fun! I’m in and going for the detective level.
Hi, I signed up, but my link isn’t appearing in your list. My post is here:

And I’m hosting a challenge as well, my first one ever. Let me know if you are interested:

I checked and your link is there, thanks for signing up. 🙂
Thanks for hosting this challenge and for keeping it going. A good mystery challenge is one I always enjoy. Good luck to you and all our fellow participants.
And another challenge I can’t resist! Thanks for feeding my addiction 😉
I’m signing up for the Detective level. Usually I don’t sign up for genre specific challenges, but I thought this sounded fun! I’m hosting the eBook challenge this year if you are interested.
I’m excited that I found you! Should be fun.
I saw this mystery challenge on Novel Challenge:

I love mysteries. This challenge is perfect for me.
I’ve never done a reading challenge before this might be fun.
How do I sign up? I have goodreads and Twitter but no blog so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do. I just finished a novel yesterday 🙂 in
You can sign up using the linky and put your goodreads profile if you don’t have a blog. Or you twitter. Then for the book link it to the January link up that is on my sidebar and link your review from goodreads to it. You can also tweet your review using #2016CloakDaggerChal then put your link from twitter in the Link up.
Question…if I were to sign up for the challenge (before April 15) would I count books I read after my sign up or from the beginning of the year?
You can go ahead and count those you already read starting at Jan. 1st.
Hi, are you doing this challenge again next year?
Yes, we are. We are currently thinking of any ideas to make it better and will probably have a sign-up post towards the end of Nov or beginning of Dec.
